Released in 1993, Kyoni Adventure for the MESS (Melodyne Entertainment SUPER System!) is the first recorded Melodyne-developed video game. At least, the first one I've heard of, but like I keep saying, info on Melodyne is REALLY sketchy and hard to find!

In this game, you play as Kyoni (kigh-oh-nee), some kind of cute satyr or faun or whatever, and go on an adventure in a world that is kind of like Greek Mythology but also kind of like regular Earth. It's cute and silly and fun!

Basically the adventure starts because this evil underground lady, Princess Hekatie (heh-kay-tee) comes up through a hole in Mt. Homer and takes over the whole of the Sappho Isles! While this was happening, Kyoni was on a picnic with her friends, and they get kidnapped! OH NO! So you have to go on a big journey defeating all of Hekatie's weird minions to save them!

It's pretty basic platforming game stuff. Kyoni's main attack is a kind of diagonal dive-kick thing with her hooves, and it is satisfying to smash the little pot guys and knock out the silly soldier ladies with it. I'd definitely put the game up there with the Marios and Sonics of the world.

I remember playing this game when I was a kid, but all I was able to find when I went looking through the old stuff in the attic was the manual. I was able to find a picture of the box art, and some old character art, on the internet, but that's BASICALLY it. If anyone has more info, I would love to hear about it! I would really like some gifs and stuff, and maybe a midi of the music so I can embed it on this page! For now, I have scanned the manual and have a page set up going over the characters I could get good art of.
